Fox River Trail

Green Valley Forest Preserve
Although bicycling is limited to the 8-foot-wide gravel or mowed-grass multipurpose trails, cyclists can still choose from a quick 30-minute jaunt to a leisurely afternoon exploration of this preserve’s varied landscapes. Bicyclists should be considerate of horses and other trail users. To prevent soil erosion and damage to plants, riding off the trails is strictly prohibited. Illinois Prairie Path
The Illinois Prairie Path is a 61-mile hiking, biking, and nature trail in Cook, DuPage and Kane Counties. The path’s route runs from Maywood to Wheaton, then branches to Elgin and Aurora (with side spurs to Batavia and Geneva). Visit the Illinois Prairie Path website.

The Morton Arboretum
The Arboretum was founded in 1922 by Morton Salt magnate Joy Morton. Arboretum grounds offer an oasis of magnificently tended trees, 14 miles of hiking trails, nine miles of roads, and 900 acres of natural areas including the prototypical, restored 100-acre Schulenberg Prairie. Springbrook Forest Preserve
The preserve’s 13 miles of trails stay to the perimeter, giving visitors wonderful views and wildlife extra privacy. Over 8 miles are open to hikers, bikers, horseback riders and cross-country skiers, and over 2 miles of narrow, mowed trails allow people on foot a closer view of the preserve’s natural features. Sections of the trail may be closed during key bird breeding seasons to protect critical nesting habitats. Visit the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve web page.

Waterfall Glen
Waterfall Glen’s four marked trails range from 0.2 miles to 9.5 miles in length and meander through some of the preserve’s most scenic areas. The main trail is an 8-foot-wide crushed-limestone multipurpose trail. Cyclists are invited to use any of Waterfall Glen’s 8-foot-wide multipurpose trails, although they are asked to stay toward the outside of the trails as a courtesy to other visitors.
